Manhole Covers

Recessed Manhole Covers

Infill covers that take the surrounding paving, tile or asphalt, so the finished surface runs unbroken across the access point.

Recessed

Ductile iron, EN 124 B125 / D400

A recessed cover is a tray. It is filled on site with the same block paving, tile or asphalt used around it, so the access point reads as part of the surface rather than a plate set into it. Specified wherever the finish matters — plazas, malls, hotel forecourts and landscaped developments — without giving up load class.

Common questions

Specifying manhole covers

What can the recess be filled with?
Block paving, tile or asphalt — the same material as the surrounding surface, so the access point reads as part of the finish rather than a plate set into it.
Does a recessed cover lose load capacity?
No. The published range runs to EN 124 D400, the carriageway class rated for a 40 tonne test load. The recess changes the finish, not the rating.
What depth of infill does it take?
The tray depth follows the cover. Send the paving or tile thickness with your enquiry and we will confirm the right model.
Where are recessed covers normally specified?
Plazas, malls, hotel forecourts and landscaped developments — anywhere an unbroken surface finish matters more than a visible access point.
