Channel Drains

Cast Channel Drainage

Channel body and grate cast as a single unit, in three widths, all EN 1433 class D400.

Cast Channel

Ductile iron, EN 1433 D400

A complete drainage run in one casting rather than a grate dropped into a separate channel. The grate is integral to the body and secured against displacement by four M8 screws, so there is no separate channel to source, bed and align on site. Supplied in 1 metre lengths and laid end to end.

Common questions

Specifying channel drains

How is this different from a grate and a separate channel?
The body and grate are cast as a single unit. There is no separate channel to source, bed and align, and nothing to mismatch on site — the grate seats in the casting it was made for.
Which width do I need?
By the flow the run has to carry. The three sizes give a clear waterway of 100, 175 and 283 mm, and that figure — not the nominal size — governs capacity.
What stops the grate lifting under traffic?
Four M8 screws per unit secure it against displacement, which is what EN 1433 class D400 requires for carriageway duty.
How long is each unit?
1000 mm, laid end to end along the run.
